Katie Lockwood
Ph.D. Student - Joined Fall 2017 ECME 217 [email protected] Katie started her graduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder in the Fall of 2017 after completing her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Portland. She is interested in thermal fluid systems, specifically combustion. For her research, she will focus on computational modeling of specific fuels at various stages in the combustion process. Katie is from Billings, Montana, and enjoys hiking, intramural sports, and traveling.

Jatinder Sampathkumar
PhD Student - Joined Fall 2019 Cristol Chemistry - 23 [email protected] Jatinder began his masters’ at the University of Colorado Boulder in Fall 2017. He is majoring in mechanical engineering with a focus on design. Jatinder received his Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from BMS College of Engineering, India. Jatinder enjoys being able to bring together elements of design, materials engineering and thermal sciences to evaluate combustion systems. He is currently working in the Labbe lab investigating new materials to be used in a novel microreactor design to study renewable fuel sources. Jatinder is from Bangalore, India and enjoys everything aviation and motorsport, apart from a passion for travel. |
Osmar Aguirre
Ph.D. Student - Joined Fall 2020 ECME 217 [email protected] Osmar started his graduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder in the Fall of 2020 after completing an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Mexico. His research focuses on the end group effects of polyoxygenated methylene ethers. Osmar is from Albuquerque, New Mexico and enjoys outdoor sports, guitar, mentoring, and cars. |

Andres Cano Botero
Masters Student - Joined Fall 2020 ECME 217 [email protected] Andres is a first-year master's student at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is focusing on fluid dynamics, specifically, reacting flow analysis. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester in 2019 where he majored in physics and astronomy. Before starting his graduate studies, he worked as a data scientist in a South American real estate investment firm. For his research, Andres is focusing on automating the computational modeling process of soot-reducing diesel additives. Andres was born in Manizales, Colombia, but grew up in Panama City, Panama. He enjoys working out, playing guitar and traveling. |

Cory O. Rogers
Masters Student - Fall 2016 - Spring 2021 [email protected] Cory started his graduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder in the fall of 2016. He is studying Thermo-Fluid Sciences. Cory is interested in the intersection of thermodynamics, renewable energies, and the current energy situation of the world. He is currently working on high-temperature combustion modeling of multi-components fuels. Cory is from the Orlando, FL area and enjoys outdoor activities, youth mentoring, and college football. |
Tianzhu Fan
Masters Student - M.S. Dec. 2017 [email protected] Tianzhu achieved his B.Sc. degree in Dalian University of Technology (China) and started the graduate study in University of Colorado Boulder in August 2015. He specializes in Thermal Fluid Sciences and has the research background of thermal management. Tianzhu is currently focusing on the micro-reactor modeling & design for the study of biofuel unimolecular decomposition. He enjoys outdoor activities like swimming and soccer. |
Geya Kairamkonda
Undergraduate Student - Fall 2017 [email protected] Geya is a junior pursuing her undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering. She loves learning, especially outside of the classroom, and has been involved with several research labs. Her primary interests are fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and biomechanics.
